CB1 GALLERY
Founded by Clyde Beswick and Jason Chang in 2010, CB1 Gallery strives to promote and nurture intellectually stimulating work that implements an intersectional aesthetic. CB1 aims to provide a platform for inspired conversation among both participating artists and community members. In January 2015 the gallery opened its new 4500 sq. ft. exhibition space in the warehouse art district of downtown Los Angeles at 1923 S. Santa Fe Ave., consisting of three CB1 exhibition galleries, plus an addition “Guest Annex” which serves as an exhibition gallery for national and international commercial galleries as well as non-profit organizations.
Gallery director Clyde Beswick spent more than 35 years in the advertising and marketing world in both New York and Los Angeles. He began collecting contemporary art is the early 80s with a focus on emerging Los Angeles artists. His collection of over 700 pieces of art included work by now well known artists such as, Mike Kelley, Lari Pittman, Paul McCarthey, Cathy Opie, John Curran, Peter Doig, and many others, including artists now represented by CB1 Gallery. He has served on the acquisitions committee of MOCA, co-chaired the MOCA benefit auction, as well as served on the board of Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE).
CB1 Gallery, its artists and exhibitions have been featured in, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Art in America, Artillery, ArtVoices, The LA Weekly, Flaunt and many other publications.

CB1 Gallery has moved to a larger 4500 SF facility in January 2015, at 1923 South Santa Fe Avenue. CB1 Gallery’s approximately 4500 square foot space features two main exhibition galleries plus a projects/video room hosting its exhibitions, offices and ample art storage. CB1 also includes a separate exhibition space across the building’s common hall, CB1-G, which is offered as a temporary lease (30-or 60-day only) ‘pop up’ gallery for vetted and professional art dealers (public and private) and independent curators from across the world, covering a multitude of both contemporary and historical art disciplines.
